The Deep Blue Sea is unashamedly deep rooted in the blues genre.
Taking full advantage of the diverse rhythmic content of the blues and shifting effortlessly between hard driving Chicago Blues to sweet soulful Delta, cool funky jazz and electrifying Latin Styles the band have developed their own authentic blues sound.
Glenn Heath (the band’s vocalist/guitarist/songwriter) draws on a wealth of experience to successfully blend well crafted arrangements of original material with his own unique versions of the classics by acknowledged Blues masters (Robert Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton and Keb Mo) creating what could best be described as his own raw and sweet brand of the Blues.
The Rhythm Section, Geoff Dixon and Lawrence Pastro, have obviously spent serious time developing the ability to musically define the subtleties in the impressive variety of Blues feels used by players such as Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon from Double Trouble (Stevie Ray Vaughan), Dave Bronze and Jim Keltner (Eric Clapton “From the Cradle album), and Laval Belle and Hutch Hutchinson (Keb Mo in “Sessions on 54th Street album).
